About Us
Begur Bengali Socio-Cultural Trust (BBSCT)
The Begur Bengali Socio-Cultural Trust is a non-profit community organization based in Begur, South Bengaluru — a forum of like-minded, cosmopolitan and enthusiastic people who came together with a simple intention: to give back to society while keeping Bengali culture alive in Karnataka's capital.
What we do
- Durga Puja & Sharad Utsav — our flagship celebration, now among the biggest Durga Pujas in Bangalore, drawing lakhs of visitors with traditional rituals, cultural evenings, Dandiya Nights and a Bengali food carnival. Durga Puja 2026 runs 16–20 October at Milana Greens, Begur.
- Cultural programmes — music, dance, theatre and community events through the year, celebrating Bengali heritage alongside the festivals of every community around us.
- Charity & social service — born during the COVID-19 pandemic, the trust continues to support food, shelter, clothing and education initiatives for those in need.
Our story
BBSCT debuted in October 2021, during the pandemic, when members pledged their free time and resources to those who needed food, shelter and clothing. Most members hail from eastern India, but the trust has always been proudly cosmopolitan — our celebrations bring together Bengali, Kannadiga and pan-Indian communities across South Bengaluru. From those beginnings, our Sharad Utsav has grown year on year into a landmark on Bangalore's festival calendar, hosting national sporting icons, celebrated performers and a footfall that now runs into lakhs.
